Walking through the local market in downtown Halifax recently, I spotted fresh strawberries and rhubarb and knew I couldn’t leave without taking home these mouth-watering summer fruits. Besides my aunt’s cranberry pastries, strawberries and rhubarb are my favorite combination when baked in some form of pastry. As I have actually only baked a few items in my life, I wasn’t quite sure what I would make as a beginner baker. I took to the internet and found this recipe, that looked pretty straight forward but still very appetizing. The final product ended up being exactly what I hoped. Flaky, sweet and tart. The cream cheese crust was the perfect balance to the fruit and with a huge scoop of vanilla ice-cream I couldn’t have been more pleased.
