{The prettiest rustic table setting with mix and match wooden chairs.}
Last week both Jamie and I hopped on a bus in the middle of downtown Toronto and made our way out to Kawartha Lakes to visit South Pond Farms. Not being from Ontario I had no idea where we were headed, but when an invitation mentions spending the day in the country enjoying local fare and wild flower bouquet making, you know I’m going to make it a priority. We didn’t really know what to expect when we arrived at South Pond Farms but I think we were both truly blown away. As soon as we stepped of the bus, Danielle French the owner of South Pond Farms, who uprooted her city life 10 Years ago in pursuit of a simpler country lifestyle, greeted us with open arms and the warmest smile. Danielle was everything I dream of being one day. She is so down to earth and talented and I honestly could have listened to her talk all day. South Pond Farms lives by the statement “simple, elegant, handcrafted and handmade” which is exactly what we received during our trip. From wildflower bouquet making with flowers picked straight from the garden, to fresh pizza cooked in an outdoor stone oven, and food served on antique floral china that Danielle has collected throughout the years (she has an entire dish room, guys!)…our trip could not have been more memorable. I was so happy to spend the day hanging out at South Pond Farms and wanted to share a little taste of what our trip looked like. Luckily, South Pond Farms also hosts monthly events so if you are looking for a unique summer experience I would highly suggest booking one, I know I will be.
