Admittedly I’m not known to have a lot of self-control when it comes to the dessert department. Have you ever seen that quote that says “I like seafood…I see food and I eat it“.? Yeah, that pretty much sums up my relationship with sweets. I know, I know, January is supposed to be the time for change and cutting out all of the bad food, but I truly believe that there is absolutely no point in depriving yourself of a delicious treat every once in a while, especially if you’ve been working hard at the gym…treat yo’ self girlfriend! I love love love a warm drink on a cold winters day and when it comes to chocolate over coffee I’ll almost always choose chocolate (unless it’s a mocha). Enter this next level salted caramel hot chocolate. 1 part Salty, and a whole lotta’ sweet, this drink is indulgent and oh so delicious. So go ahead and make this the next time you want a warm treat to cozy up with, this recipe won’t disappoint.
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp unsweetened coco powder
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp store bought or homemade salted caramel sauce
- Fresh whipped cream
- Chocolate flakes
- Caramel Drizzle
- Combine water, sugar and coco powder In a medium sauce pan on medium heat and heat until a chocolate syrup forms.
- Turn heat down to low and add milk and vanilla, heat until hot.
- Pour 1 tbsp of salted caramel sauce in the bottom of a 16oz mug
- Pour hot coco into the mug and mix until the caramel sauce in dissolved.
- Top with fresh whipped cream, caramel drizzle, chocolate flakes and a small amount of sea salt.
