Our trip to Prince Edward County was all about spending a relaxing couple of days in a small town relaxing and enjoying each others company, and from the moment we arrived in the county, that’s exactly what we did. On our first evening there, we stayed on The Grange Winery in the Pomp Outpost (more on that tomorrow). We were both super excited to be staying the night on a winery and took full advantage of it by touring around the beautiful property (whilst trying not to step on frogs), sipping on wine and finally enjoying a sunset picnic outside on one of their many accessible picnic tables. Before our picnic Maggie, the daughter of Caroline Granger, who founded The Grange Winery, sat down with us to give us some insight about how the winery came to be and where they are today. Jamie and I were both so inspired by their story and it was such a pleasure to be able to sit down with Maggie. After our chat, we enjoyed our picnic which is something unique the winery offers to visitors. We opted for a bottle of the newly released Almanac Field Blend which paired wonderfully with our locally sourced charcuterie board, freshly baked bread and rosemary topped popcorn. This was the perfect way to kick off our trip so if you’re planning on taking a trip to PEC anytime soon, I’d definitely suggest heading over to The Grange Winery for a tour, picnic and of course, some delicious wine.
