Fussy outfits in the summer are the worst. Layering a tank under a t-shirt, tight jean shorts and topping it off with heavy jewellery that slides and sticks to you is just so uncomfortable. In the heat, the simplest outfits are what make the greatest impact and are much more practical. Take this maxi for example; it speaks volumes on its own with it’s nautical striping, side slits, lace detailing and contrasting purple belt and top (and it breathes!). It didn’t need much more than a strappy pair of wedges, braided bun and some earth tone braceletes for the outfit to stand out. Once you establish what pieces in your wardrobe speak for themselves (a maxi can work on every body type), it’s easy to work around what to style with it. Especially in the summertime when wearing pieces that are too tight and heavy for the heat is just impractical.
