Last week in between the holiday hustle and bustle, Jamie and I decided to head out for an impromptu lunch date at the recently opened (and by recently I mean 3 months ago) Lena in Saks. I’d been wanting to have lunch or dinner at Lena since peaking my head into the window and becoming completely enthralled by the huge art deco bar in the center of the incredibly designed restaurant. I am always looking for an excuse to pretend I’m from the twenties so I figured that no other restaurant in Toronto could give me those Great Gatsby vibes better than Lena. Aside from the beautiful atmosphere, the South American inspired food was delicious (I had the broken avocado salad), and the service was top-notch (the manager even came over to introduce himself). Typically, weekday lunch doesn’t call for a fancy dress but on this particular day I was feeling bold and wanted to get gussied up, even if it meant a few stares from the other patrons. I loved how well this dress paired with the atmosphere of the restaurant and how the ginger colour and velvet texture popped against the turquoise bar stools. You guys will never believe it but this dress cost me under $40 and it’s a piece that I know will be a go-to for years to come.
