The days are finally longer, short dresses no longer have to be worn with tights and I can hardly believe it, but festival season is here! It’s time to dance outside until dusk and let loose. In my opinion, there’s just something so special about festival fashion and festival beauty. Never is there a better opportunity to dress a little out of my comfort zone and play into a character of sorts, while wearing boho inspired pieces and of course, styling my hair in a fun, different way. Today, I’ve teamed up with John Frieda® Canada to show you how to recreate this effortless half-up fishtail braid with scattered flowers. Festival hair can sometimes look complicated, even this style could seem intimidating if you don’t know where to begin. But, I promise you that with a little help from my friend, Aylin who showed me how simple it is to create festival inspired hair, and some great styling products from John Frieda, anyone can create this look that will stand out amongst the crowds. You guys know I LOVE flowers so what better excuse than a festival to add some pretty little blooms to my hair! I just love how this look turned out so be sure to keep reading to see how to create this style for yourself.
PS: Be sure to head on over to my Instagram to enter to win the ultimate festival contest! The winner will receive 2 tickets to a music festival, a styling session for you and a friend plus a basket of John Frieda® hair care goodies!

-Wide-toothed comb

2. Before styling my hair, I first shampooed and conditioned with the John Frieda® Luxurious Volume® Core Restore® Collection. I’m a firm believer that great style starts in the shower so I used products that wouldn’t weigh my hair down, and that would give my hair the lightweight volume I’m constantly craving. The Core Restore® Shampoo strengthens my hair to maximize its volume and vitality while the clear conditioner with Protein-Strength Complex detangled my hair easily and weightlessly absorbed without leaving a coating.
3. After showering, I towel dried and combed my hair through. I then applied 2 pumps of the John Frieda® Luxurious Volume® Advanced Protein Volumizer to my damp hair, working it through with my fingers. This heat-activated product works great on fine hair to add strength, body and aids in holding a style.
4. After blow drying my hair and before styling it, I sprayed a small amount of the John Frieda® Luxurious Volume® Refresh Dry Shampoo onto the roots of my hair. This helped me add volume to my crown as well as made it easier to style my hair and absorb excess oil so that I can keep my hairstyle an extra day…or two!
5. For the Curls:
-Section your hair into 4-6 different sections.
-Using your straightener (or wand) and starting with the bottom section of your hair, loosely
curl your hair.
-To get the best waves, curl the hair away from your face.Once you’re done curling all of your hair, use a wide-toothed comb and just comb through your hair
6. Create two Fishtail Braids on both sides of your head.
7. Gather both braids in the back, adding the hair that wasn’t braided into a ponytail but do not tie it!
8. Create one last fishtail, as long as you’d like it to go, and tie it with a small hair elastic.
9. Gently pull the braid out to give it that thicker fuller look
10. Spray hair with a small amount of John Frieda® Frizz Ease® Moisture Barrier Flexible Hold Hairspray
