By now the holiday party invites have started rolling in so I thought this year, instead of gifting the ole’ bottle of wine, I would create a few different gifting options to bring as host(ess) gifts. Hostess gift don’t have to be elaborate or expensive to be stylish and thoughtful, and with the help of Real Canadian Superstores I’ve created 3 options that I think will really knock your hostesses socks off this holiday season. Putting a little extra time and care into this type of gift really shows that you’ve thought about the person you’re gifting to and around the holidays that is always much appreciated. I hope you like what I’ve come up with!
Homemade Cookies + Unexpected Cookie Tins: This time of year holiday baking is without a doubt one of my favourite things to do. I literally cannot wait to get back to Halifax and get my bake on with my mom and sisters in a couple of weeks. While most people have more than enough indulgences surrounding them this time of year, I still think that bringing a homemade treat to a holiday party in favour of a bottle of wine is such a sweet sentiment. If you have a favourite cookie recipe or holiday dessert (snowflake sugar cookies are my go-to because they’re so easy to decorate), why not bake up a batch and add your baked gift to an adorable cookie tin. I have never seen such adorable tins like the ones from Real Canadian Superstore for such a reasonable price, so I definitely suggest stocking up on a few of these Holiday Essentials cookie options. My personal favourite is the cookie tin disguised as The Night Before Christmas book, but if you know there will be children at the party might I suggest the little tin train? It’s perfect for smaller treats and cookies. PS: if you are headed to a cookie swap this holiday season these cookie tins would also be such a great gifting addition, you can even tag on the recipe if you’re willing to share!
Copper Mixing Bowls + Cookie Mix in a Jar: Copper is a huge trend right now, it’s on everything from home decor and fashion to of course cooking and baking essentials. Why not treat the hostess to a set of gorgeous stainless steel mixing bowls coloured in copper from Real Canadian Superstore? Goodness knows they’ll appreciate the thought, especially if they’ve run out of bowls because they’ve been busy making delicious goodies for all of their guests. I love these stylish mixing bowls for their practicality and style, but instead of just heading over to a holiday party with a set of mixing bowls why not go a step further and make your host(ess) cookies in a jar to pair with them. If you have a favourite cookie recipe simply add the dry ingredients to a jar, layering them to add interest and finish it off with a hand written recipe and pretty bow. This requires very little effort but the extra thought is sure to be recognized.
A Stocking Filled With Entertaining Essentials: I think that this might be my favourite host(ess) gift out of the bunch because stockings are my favourite to open and to make. This stunning (and affordable) Life at Home woven gold ribbon stocking with faux fur trim was the perfect option for tucking a few entertaining essentials from PC for my next holiday party. The stocking you make to bring to your host(ess) doesn’t have to be elaborate to make an impact. Simply add a few items that would cost about as much as a bottle of wine and you’re good to go. For this stocking I added basil infused olive oil, a tea towel (they came in a pack of 3 so I have 2 more to make more stockings), a wooden spoon and some chocolate covered caramel popcorn because chocolate covered caramel popcorn. I also added a sweet “eat, drink and be merry” gift tag from Life at Home as I felt that it fit the theme perfectly. The hostess in your life will be sure to truly appreciate this thoughtful gift.
Thank you to Real Canadian Superstore for sponsoring this post, all opinions are my own.
