When an e-mail about a potential collaboration with Halifax based North by North Photography landed in my inbox a couple of months ago I was ecstatic. I had already been following Alexa or (Seriously Alexa on Instagram) for quite some time, so when she let me know that her and her boyfriend Luke had recently launched a new photography company and were looking to partner with local bloggers I jumped at the chance! I love Alexa’s aesthetic, she’s worked with some pretty amazing brands like Urban Outfitters and Aritzia, so I knew that working with both her and Luke would be an amazing partnership.
We decided on a coastal inspired shoot (the snow was just an added bonus) and I knew I wanted a cozy outfit that consisted of a neutral palate and lots of layers (which were needed because it was COLD). I pulled an amazing cardigan and scarf from one of my favorite new/thrift boutiques in Halifax Makenew and layered a white wool blanket over top of everything. The pieces couldn’t have worked out better for the vibe we were going for.
The photographs turned out better than I could have ever imagined, especially since the wind and cold were definitely not on our side that day. These photos also feel so special to me since it was the only time I was able to see the ocean when I was home and the entire scene just feels so authentic. Alexa and Luke were incredible to work with so if you’re looking for photos in the Halifax area look no further than North by North Photography.
