About the Author

Fritz Karch was the editorial director of collecting at Martha Stewart Living for 15 years. He is also a lifelong collector. Rebecca Robertson is the former decorating editor at Martha Stewart Living. She runs her own residential interiors company and curates vintage glassware at her shop Pasanella & Son, Vintners.

Beau livre très bien illustré. Contient des collections très variées allant d'objets très rares et dispendieux en passant par des meubles et de la vaisselle, jusqu'aux objets miniatures. On y trouve de très belles idées d'intégration d'objets de collection dans toutes les pièces de la maison. Photos soignées et description pertinente. Il y a de tout pour plaire à tout type de collectionneur!

I love this book. The authors are very articulate in their descriptions of the different kinds of collectors and the photography is amazing. As a collector and antique dealer, I enjoy seeing how others display their collections--it gives me ideas for my own.

A very interesting way of analyzing collector personalities. The collections and their descriptions were great. I am a Nippon collector but it seems like nobody else collects it but I have several other collections and it was interesting trying to figure out how many of the categories fit me. I am definitely a maximalist but also a machinist and zoologist. The photography is superb and most of the print superimposed on top of photos is easy for old eyes to read which cannot be said of all such publications, especially vintage and flea market magazines and books. I saw the book at an antique store and then came home and bought it at Amazon for a reduced price. I recommend it.

I was looking forward to receiving this book, as I am a collector at heart. I love nothing more than an afternoon at a flea market or antique mall so I have several collections in my home. This book will definitely give "collectors" inspiration but what it doesn't do is give you a lot of pictures of how the owners of these objects make them work in the actual rooms where they are showcased, which is what I wanted to see. It has a lot of photos of various shelves, credenzas and cabinets that are full of a particular collection but there are very few photos that show the whole room that is housing that collection. That said, I still enjoyed seeing all the different collections and seeing them gave me ideas on a few new items to look for. My problem is wanting to make sure my collections are curated enough that they add to my decor and not make it look chaotic. This book wasn't as helpful in that regard.

I am still working my way through this book. I've seen it featured in several columns and it is everything and more than I was expecting and hoping for. Reading every word on every page is a treat I reserve for when I can give it my undivided attention. It should come with a warning, however. You WILL want to start more collections when you see the many genres of collecting and the creative displays in this book. Best buy I've made in I don't know when! THANK YOU, Fritz!

I was disappointed in this book, was looking for ideas for displaying collections and found many of the pictures to be unrealistic in terms of being dog, cat, adult! proof. While the photography is terrific, I just did not find there to be enough substance for me.
