Your home’s entryway is like the cover of a good book. It sets the tone for what is inside and draws you in! It also begins your home’s story and sets the stage for what is to come. Beyond being beautiful, your entryway needs to be functional. You need a place to contain all of the boots, bags, keys, scarves, dog leashes and other sundries. Here are 5 quick tips on how to create a beautiful fall entryway.

1. Greet them at the door.
An eye-catching front door serves as the focal point for your home’s entryway. It is often the first thing noticed by guests, so you want to be sure it makes a good first impression. Updating your doorway with paint, or new hardware is a great way to personalize your space. Adding pumpkins, mums, hay bales, and cornstalks are all festive ways to welcome your guests to fall. 2. Use vertical space.
Our family of four lives in the city in a renovated Victorian row home that we purchased as a flip nine years ago. Our home has a vestibule entryway containing a small mudroom within; however, during the winter months it is freezing inside the vestibule and no one wants to stand in there any longer than necessary. Backpacks, coats, mittens, hats, and boots were migrating out of the mudroom and onto the floor inside the door where it is warm. I solved the problem by creating a second coat and shoe area which has become one of my favorite spots to decorate each season. Granted, my entryway rarely looks this cute, but every few months my family accommodates my wishes and keeps their bags and shoes hidden elsewhere! If you also struggle with a small entryway, I recommend making use of your vertical space by attaching coat hooks to a wall, or placing a coat-rack in the corner.
To make my entryway look cute for fall, I always hang some unexpected items on the hooks. An olive wreath and cotton garland add a cozy touch of fall to the space.
3. Organize the mess.
Finding a stylish storage solution for all of your belongings is imperative to keeping a beautiful and functional entryway. No one likes to be greeted at the door by a mess! If there is not a coat closet in the foyer, or if it does not supply adequate storage, attach coat hooks to a wall or place a coat-rack in the corner. Sports equipment, gloves, scarves, hats, etc. can be neatly hidden in wicker baskets or storage bins. In tight entryways, choose furniture pieces, such as console tables and storage benches, that have a low profile. 
I recently added the Seneca Storage Bench by Birch Lane to my entryway, and I love it! When you have a small home and an entire first floor without walls, you have to get really creative with furniture placement. We were lacking a suitable spot to sit and take off our shoes. This piece hides perfectly behind the couch and looks beautiful with my other driftwood-stained pieces. 
I added a magnolia wreath and fox pillow to the bench to give it a fall vibe. Doesn’t my little Pomeranian fox look adorable perched above the bench? 🙂

Accessories play a very important part in telling your home’s story. For seasonal decorating, I always mix real and faux greenery and florals together. When you add something fresh to the faux, you have greater difficulty telling which is which! I love how the faux olive trees and dried olive wreath look together,
