Sheer Structure

I really do love the idea of an all white outfit, as seen here. However, if you are like me, white may not be the most practical option for every day activities like say…eating. White at-least looks classic and clean (for about 5 minutes). But as soon as I saw these shorts from Zara or should I say skort, I threw all of my practicality out the window and knew I had to have them. They are perfectly asymmetrical and can go with anything from a light summer sweater and Keds to a more dressy top and heels. I styled them with a white cotton T with sheer paneling on the top and white heels on this gloomy day because it felt nice and bright against an otherwise foggy background.

Highs and Lows

My apologies for the delayed post, I have had a very busy week and did not have a chance to get to it.
This week has been exceptionally great. I really have no lows to mention. My week consisted of a day trip to Mahone Bay with my family, laying in the sunshine, finding some pretty jewellery supplies for an upcoming DIY project, and ended with a fun night out with friends. I also have to mention that two of my pictures for my highs are delayed and will be added either this evening or tomorrow. But for now, here are my highs for the week. Enjoy your weekend!

A cut-out sequins hat from the 1920’s that I purchased from an amazing little vintage shop in Mahone Bay, (Peacocks Vintage) that I will be doing a post about in the following weeks.

Basically what I did all week when the weather permitted hanging out on the deck eating Watermelon and Avocado.

I love this idea! A sand filled wooden holder with pewter moldes of sea creatures.

For today’s post I wanted to share a few quick tidbits of information I have read recently in regards to the Halifax retail scene. So here we go:

-Mic Mac mall seems to be targeting the younger adult market with stores such as Justice, Bench, Stance and the infamous Forever 21, all set to call the the mall home in the near future.

Samuel & Co. in the Mic Mac mall is closing after many years of patronage. This is only the second Store in the Samuel & Co. division to close after almost 20 years in business. The new store that will be taking it’s place is also targeted towards young adults. Journey the urban street style footwear store.

-Saturday unveiled a soft opening for the new Mills store in the Shops at Spring Garden. the 9000 sq. ft. store has two levels consisting of beauty, accessories and handbags on the first level and fashion on the second. Mills also introduced a  new shoe department consisting of  brands such as Sam Edelman, House of Harlow and L.K. Bennett.

-Property owner Mickey Macdonald is planning on developing the old Mills location but is just looking for the right fit for the vacancy. He says he is trying to find a retailer that mixes well with the  Lululemon store that is next door. Names such as H&M, Forever 21 and even Aritzia are being tossed around.

Hope you enjoyed the first edition of Halifax Fashion News, I will keep you updated as regularly as possible!
