Highs and Lows

June 21, 2013

highsandlows

This week felt exceptionally slow; I believe this is due to the fact that my sisters prom is on Monday, and I am so excited for it! I never get to see them dressed up, and I am so unbelievably proud of them and all their accomplishments (I have twin sisters). Besides the week being slow, it still felt productive and full of activities. Here are all of my highs as captured in pictures:

Home Run

homerun2I realize that I may be a grown adult and that frolicking around a playground in a pencil could be considered impractical; but who dosen’t love feeling nostalgic? i’m quite sure you would agree that reenacting your childhood every once in a while can be filled with fun and laughter. Especially when it involves a bright blue baseball cap and neon yellow oxfords.

Lemon-blueberry Iced Tea

June 19, 2013

tea2
Who doesn’t love a refreshing glass of cold iced-tea on a warm summer day? However, if you’re like me the high sugar beverages you find in stores just don’t cut it. This lemon-blueberry tea, purchased at Timothy’s, is a great alternative to the store-bought brands. It’s low-calorie and low in sugar; using just a hint of honey to sweeten the bitter lemon flavour.

tea1Put a pot of water on the stove and bring to boil. While waiting, cut up small pieces of lemon and rinse blueberries.

tea3Add the small pieces of lemon and blueberries into ice-cube trays and freeze. When you put the ice cubes into the drink later on, they will melt and leave you with a yummy treat at the bottom of your glass.

tea1Once the water comes to a boil, remove it from the heat and add 2-3 tea bags depending on how much water you put in the pot.

tea10Add honey once the water has cooled down a bit. When the tea is around room temperature you can put it in the freezer so it cools off quicker.

tea10Take your cold tea out of the freezer and transfer it into a pitcher that has sliced lemons and more blueberries. Once in the pitcher pour your tea into glasses, add ice-cubes and serve.

tea8Enjoy!
