After I finally got around to planting my herb garden a few days ago (see yesterday’s post), I knew that I wanted to make something in which they would be the star of the show. I decided to use the mint as it was the herb with the most sprigs on it, so I took to Martha Stewart’s website to find the perfect recipe. I found these cookies and I am so glad I did. After they were finished our entire house was full of mint and lemon aromas, which completely brightened up my day. The cookies also taste very light and delicate, perfect for a summer day on the patio with a cup of tea.
Last week the lovely people over at Michael Kors asked me to check out their new location in Halifax. Of course I jumped at the chance, since I knew I would be home a few short days after the opening! The new store is located in the Halifax Shopping Centre on the bottom level right next to Coach, a perfect location. As soon as I walked into the store I was immediately impressed. The HSC location resembles that of any other mecca city, with it’s open concept, metal and wood surfaces and white/earth toned colour palette. I was also extremely happy with the selection. I had been looking at the MK website the night before I went to the store, and wasn’t expecting the HSC location to carry a lot of what the website offered (they did). From the classic Hamilton to new off the Runway pieces and lots of shoes and accessories in between, the HSC Michael Kors is what fashion dreams are made of. I ended up leaving with a colorblocked Mini Selma that I styled with a metallic threaded sweater and olive green track inspired shorts. The mini cross-body It is so perfect for summer days when a big tote is too much to lug around (although MK has some amazing totes too)! If you are around the Halifax Shopping Centre this weekend you should definitely check out the new store! I’m sure you will not be able to leave without at least a little something!

Only 5 weeks after loosing my boyfriends grandfather, it was quite the shock to hear that once again we would be flying home to Halifax for the funeral of Florence, my boyfriends grandmother. Florence suffered from Alzheimer’s for many years, and we had been preparing ourselves for this day for quite a while, but no matter how much you prepare yourself for loosing someone, it is never easy to wrap your head around. Although I wasn’t lucky enough to know Flo when she was in her best years, I am grateful I was able to see her smile and receive her hugs and kisses on the cheek every time I visited her over the last six years. I truly believe that in some way Flo knew that her husband was gone and that she wanted to be with him. I believe that their love was so strong, that even after 61 years of marriage, their unbreakable bond could not keep them apart for too long. I feel truly blessed that I was able to know both Florence and Aubrey and have so much love in my heart for them. They are at peace and together now, and that gives me so much hope for the future. My heart and mind is open, and I hope that their little love story inspires others to feel the same. Have a great weekend everyone, see you Monday.
